According to a cnBeta report on May 26, Apple is studying the use of a special support structure also made of glass on the edges to make the glass on the front of the iPhone or iPad stronger and thinner.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Apple a patent on Tuesday called "Insert molding around glass components for portable electronic devices."
Apple stated in this patent that you can have the same glass cover that can protrude from other parts of the case like curved glass, but at the same time it can maintain the thinness of the main glass part of the entire screen.
