The main difference between float glass and ultra-white glass is the light transmittance

Glass is a basic material of decoration. However, most people don't know how to distinguish or even pick as there are many materials and types of glass. For example, lots of people can't tell the float glass and ultra-white glass.

1. What is float glass?

Float glass is actually a general civilian flat glass which is flat and clear, as it floats on the surface of the tin solution during the production process, so it has the name "float",

2. What is ultra-white glass?

People also call ultra-white glass as colorless glass and high-transparent glass. There are some many advantages of ultra-white glass, such as high light transmittance, high transparency, crystal clear appearance, and even beautiful appearance.

3. The difference between float glass and ultra-white glass

There is no big difference in appearance between float glass and ultra-white glass. In fact, light transmittance also the fundamental performance of glass is difference. Light transmittance determines the status of glass in the glass family,

For float glass, generally, its visible light transmittance is 89% (3mm). For ultra-white glass, its visible light transmission can not lower than 91.5% (3mm) as it has strict standards and requirements for transparency.  Also the iron oxide content causing the coloring of the glass is also strictly regulated, it cannot higher than 0.015%.

Float glass is often used for construction, high-grade glass processing, lamp glass, decorative glass, etc.; ultra-white glass is mainly used in interior and exterior decoration of high-end buildings, electronic products, high-end car glass, solar cells and other industries.

In summary, the difference between the two types of glass is the light transmittance. In fact, although they differ in the application industry and the field, they are generally versatile.
